Homework Policy

I expect all homework assignments to be handed in on time. If your child
fails to turn his/her homework in on time, a "No Homework" letter will be
sent home for parents to sign and return to school the next day, along with
the missed homework. However, the grade for that assignment will be lowered
one letter grade. Failure to turn in the work by the next day will result
in a zero for that assignment.

Cherry Chase School
Third Grade Homework Policy

Homework is essential to reinforce what is learned at school and is key in
instilling good work habits. We expect that children will work on written
homework and long-term projects for an average of 30 min. each night, Monday
through Thursday. They should also read for a minimum of 20 minutes each
night. We do not give out homework over the weekends and holidays. We prefer
that students have sufficient time to spend with family and friends.
However, students may have homework if they choose to put off long-term
assignments. Please work with your child to stay on top of bigger projects
throughout the school week.

Please notify us if you feel that your child is not doing enough homework,
and we will work with your child to develop suitable extensions. Also, if
you feel that your child is spending too much time on their assignments,
please let us know so we can work with your child toward a solution.
let us know so we can work with your child toward a solution.

It is the student's responsibility to do his/her homework on time and bring
it to school. Assignments should be complete and neatly typed or handwritten
in cursive. Work should be completed in pencil or erasable ink, unless
otherwise specified. Assignments that consist of more that one piece of
paper should be stapled in the upper left-hand corner. The proper heading
(name, number, assignment title, and date) should also be on homework. If a
student has not completed his/her homework, he/she may be asked to do it at
recess. Homework will be checked daily and a note will be sent home
informing you of any missed assignments.

To help ensure that students are keeping up with their assignments, please
check their assignment book nightly. We greatly appreciate parent support
with this, as it is essential in the development of student responsibility.
Parents may also check our classroom web sites for assignment information.
