What are the class discipline procedures?

This year, I am using Class Dojo as a communication tool. Students can earn classroom privileges through the accumulation of Dojo points. These might include: lunch with a friend in the classroom, extra computer time, a homework pass, sitting next to a friend, etc... At this point, I am hoping to eliminate the "Walk of Shame" to a clipboard of discipline and instead work proactively with students should they not abide by our Working Agreements. Students will be given a card that will ask them to speak to me when we have some open time. Please note that this will occur after at least two verbal warnings. Parents can receive daily text or email updates by signing up with Class Dojo.
Severe discipline matters as covered by our Clara Barton Handbook will be handled through the Administrative office with a citation.

When can I expect a returned call, conference, or email?

I make every effort to return emails within one working day or less. I will return phone calls within 3 working days. Parent conferences can generally be arranged within 5 working days.

Are parents welcomed to help in the classroom?

Absolutely - parents can help in so many ways! Please let me know if you prefer to work behind the scenes running worksheets, putting together centers or bulletin boards. We are also looking to develop a parent advisory committee for our GATE program, let me know if you are interested. Students also enjoy having someone to read to and share their thoughts with - let me know if that is your area of interest.
