We are fortunate enough to welcome eighteen student teachers from Cal State Fullerton into our classroom this month.  Your child will enjoy personalized English instruction with one of these talented teachers for four hours this month.  The student teachers will be visiting us from 1:00-1:50 on the 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd of February.

This coming Monday, February 15th, there is no school to observe George Washington’s birthday.  To learn more about the first president of the United States, click here:  http://www.georgewashington.si.edu/life/chronology.html

Friday, February 12th we are celebrating Valentine’s Day.  This is a time to show appreciation for all of our friends that are in our lives.  On Valentine’s Day, children traditionally bring valentines for every child in their class.  Sometimes, children give a small piece of candy with each valentine (please, no gum!) If you do not want to buy valentines, you can make them yourself by cutting out hearts or cards and decorating them. J

Our class will host the Chinese New Year celebration for both Miss Porto’s class and our class.  This celebration will take place on Friday, February 12th from 1:00-2:00.  If you would like to donate food, party supplies, or drinks and if you would like to volunteer during the party, please let me know.  In the past I have had parents organize lucky envelope games, etc.  If you would like to organize a fun game for 45 children, please contact me.  This party is always a lot of fun and we would love your cooperation.  Note:  The food does not have to be an Asian dish.  This is a time for all families to share a special New Year tradition! J

If you are volunteering for the party on Friday, please show up around 12:45 to help set up.  Thank you!  Friday is going to be so much fun!

If you have class pictures you would like to share on our classroom website, please email them to me.  I really appreciate your help with this!

Every Tuesday our class will go to the Library.  Please bring your library book to school every Monday.

Every Friday we have a poem test.  The audio files are available on the Homework and Poem links to the left.  If you cannot listen to the poem on a computer, please let me know as soon as possible so I can provide your child with an audio tape.  Thanks! J
