Dear Parents of Johnson’s 5th Graders,
As some of you may remember from years past, College Park PTA has an annual
Silent Auction fundraiser. Each class donates items for a themed-basket and
then it goes to the highest bidder at the silent auction. The money from
these sales goes into our PTA fund which in turn goes to the many programs
that the PTA provides to our school and our children.
In the past, the auction has been held at the World’s Fair but this year the
PTA is having it at our first inaugural Parents Night Out on March 6th,
2010. The PTA informed the room parents that we need to assemble our baskets
and turn them in by Tuesday, February 16th. That is only a couple of weeks
away and we need to collect all donations by Friday, February 12th to have it
ready by the 16th. The theme that we have chosen for Mrs. Johnson’s class
basket is Sports for All Seasons. We are asking each child to either donate
a sport related item (see ideas below) or to donate $10. Please turn your
donations into Mrs. Johnson no later than Friday, February 12th. If you are
going to donate an item, please let me know by email and by “replying to all”
so that we don’t have duplicate items. If you are going to donate $10,
please bring in cash only and put it in an envelope marked “Mrs. Johnson’s
Sports Basket”.
List of ideas for Sports for All Seasons basket:
Basketballs, Footballs, Soccer balls, Baseballs, and Bats
Gift cards to Sporting Good Stores (see if they will donate before you
purchase)
Tickets to a local sporting event: Angels, Ducks, UCI or Fullerton sports, etc
Snow Gear: Goggles, headbands, earmuffs, etc.
Running, Biking or Swimming Gear:
Sports Books: some are stories and some are how to make the most of your
workout (whatever it is )
Yoga mats
Passes to local gyms in the area
Workout apparel or accessories: shirts, towels, socks, headbands,
wristbands/guards, sports bag, etc.
Great places to find these items are Sports Authority, Dicks Sporting Goods,
Big 5, Performance Bike Shop, Jacks Bike Shop, Nike Women (Fashion Island),
Nike Town (South Coast Plaza), Runners High (near Trader Joe’s), Sports
Chalet, and CAS aquatic supply.

price from Scholastic Book Clubs. Parents are able to order online at home
instead of sending the orders and money in to school. Just use the log in
