Beach Party Book Swap:
Condit's Beach Party Book Swap is coming soon...May 22nd (Tuesday afternoon).  Please have your 
child bring in a used book to Mrs. Christenson as soon as possible.  She will be taking used books 
until May 22nd.  Thank you!

As most of you know…my due date is shortly approaching!  Starting next week, 
Monday, May 7th – Friday, May 18th, I will be taking half days (working in 
the morning until 11:30 a.m.) and a substitute will finish the day.  Starting 
Monday, May 21st, I will begin my full day pregnancy leave until the rest of 
the school year.  Mrs. Morgan will be taking over for me starting next week.  
She is an excellent, experienced teacher who is also a parent here at 
Condit.  If you have any questions, please contact me by e-mail.  Thank you 
for a wonderful year!

CST Testing (STAR):
**We just finished our first week of testing!  The students have done an amazing job!  Next week we 
will continue CST testing (Math).  Please continue to have your child:

	Go to bed early each night and get a good night’s rest
	Eat a healthy breakfast each morning
	Get to school on time every day

These are critical to your child’s performance during this testing time.  A 
tired or hungry student cannot do his/her best.

Please remember that ALL students need to take ALL sections of the 
test, and while students will be provided opportunities for make-up tests, 
our goal is to have ALL students present for ALL tests during the scheduled 
weeks.  Therefore, we encourage you to make every effort to have your child 
participate in the testing during our scheduled weeks.  We appreciate your 
help in making this happen!

P.S…. Parent Helpers: Please enjoy the rest of the year off!  Thank you for 
all you do!!

Accelerated Reader (AR) Update:
**There are only two weeks left of Accelerated Reader.  Please continue to have your child 
read nightly and quiz regularly on the book(s) that he/she are reading.  The deadline is May 25th.
*Remember, students must meet their goal 2 out of 3 trimesters to earn a trophy in June.  If you have 
any questions regarding Accelerated Reader, please contact me as soon as possible.  Thank you!

In Language Arts, we will continue our Theme: Talent Show.  Starting the week of May 21st  we will 
continue reading a Realistic Fictional story called Moses Goes to a Concert. Our 
comprehension strategy is to Summarize, in your own words, tell what has 
happened so far in the story.  In phonics we are reviewing the sound i (igh, 
ie.)  We are also reviewing vowel pairs oo, ew, ue, and ou.  We will spend 2 
weeks on every phonics/spelling feature.  There will be a spelling list pre-
test on Friday of the first week.   We will have a chance to work with 
students who did not receive 100% on that spelling rule during the second 
week, which will begin the week of May 21st..  Then there will be another 
chance to take the spelling test again.  Students who have received 100% will 
not take the test over again.  Instead, they may work on their AR goal during 
that time.

In math we finished up Unit 9 (Measurement).  We will begin Unit 10 this week.  We are working on 
decimal places and money!
