Welcome and thank you for taking the time to check out this site. I believe
there is something here for teachers, parents, and students. Enjoy your
time examining each of the links.

PERSONAL
I am in my sixteenth year at Conyer. I am married to Carol who is the
Administrative Assistant to Pastor Rich Hanson of Visalia First Presbyterian
Church. Our daughter, Janine, works for the YMCA in Santa Barbara as an after
school program director and summer day camp director. Carol and I enjoy
visiting San Francisco once or twice a year because we usually discover
something new each time we visit.

In my class the "D" word is not allowed. Of course, that word is Dodgers
(shudder) and sometimes Diamondbacks since I am a SF GIANTS fan (49ers,too).
Don't worry, that "Other D-Word" is not allowed either.

My favorite musical performer is Elvis but I do enjoy Country. When it comes
to cartoon characters, you can't beat Garfield. However, I also read Baby
Blues, Luann, and Zits just to keep up to date. TV programs I enjoy include
CSI, 24, The Amazing Race, Cold Case, American Idol, HGTV, and The Food
Network.

Except for my stint in the Air Force, where I spent time in Texas and
Colorado, I have lived my entire life in California. My BA is in Social
Service from San Jose State University. I hold an MA in Christian Education
from the Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary in Fresno. My Multiple Subject
Teaching Credential is from Chapman University. And, I am an ordained
American Baptist minister as well as an Elder at my church. Yes, I can still
"marry and bury."

Finally, I am also a driving instructor for the Corliss Driving School
(www.corlissdrivingschool.com/). That's right, each day after school and
twice a day during the summer months, I teach students who want to earn their
driver's license how to drive. It's fantastic! I'm even looking forward to
working with some of my former classroom students as they reach that magic
age.

THE BASICS
I believe that teachers have a right to teach and students have a right to
learn. In my class, each student is expected to try and do their best,
follow directions the first time they are given, do only what I ask them to
do, and make responsible choices by observing all classroom basics and the
Conyer Code of Conduct.

CODE OF CONDUCT -or- "How to Get Caught Being Good"
   1. Be respectful
   2. Be caring of others
   3. Be prepared
   4. Be a contributor

Students will be sent to Principal Leon for:
   - Physically harming or threatening someone.
   - Verbally abusing or mocking someone.
   - Inappropriate language.
   - Damaging or stealing property.
   - Refusing to follow any teacher's or aide's directions.
