CROSS COUNTRY NEWS: HOLY COW!
We want to thank the Cross Country team for their hard work and dedication in
making our 2009 season a huge success. Those early morning practices paid off
as all Cupertino runners showed a ton of improvement from the beginning of the
season until the League Finals at Columbia Middle School, where, Cupertino
captured three divisional championships for the first time in school history.
League Champions included:
6th grade girls (43 points): We edged Kennedy by one point and were led by
J.J. (1st overall), Nicole (5), Maanasa (10), Jennifer (13) and Ellie (14).
6th grade boys (39 points): They saved their best for last as they had their
most dominating performance of the season and were led Jake (3), Daniel (5),
Elliot (9), Eli (10) and Luke (12).
8th grade boys (28 points): They made it look easy as they captured their
third consecutive league title and were le by Giorgio (1st overall), Cooper
(3), Steven (6), Jason (8) and Vincent (10).
We finished the season with the Sectional Championship meet at J.D. Morgan
Park that had an exciting and very competitive field that included 20 schools.
Highlights of the meet included:
Individual Sectional Champions: Giorgio Liantono (8th grade boy) and J.J.
Escalara (6th grade girl).
Team Sectional Champions: 8th grade boys (39 points): Giorgio (1), Cooper
(3), Steven (8), Jason (10) and Vincent (17).
Individual Medalists: J.J. Escalara, Nicole Augricht, Daniel Graves, Jake
Murray, Cade Pustelnik, Emilio Torres, Giorgio Liantono, Cooper Sloan, Steven
Russum, and Jason Russum .
