Hello Students & Parents

This is my third year teaching at Cupertino Middle School and my sixth year teaching full-time
overall. I love the students here at "CUP" and the rich diversity they bring to my classroom. I grew-
up all over the US, including Hawaii, where developed my love for the beach. I also attended Junior
High at an American School in Belguim, where I began to develope my love for Languages--English
as well as others.

Before coming to CMS I taught at an elementary school just outside of Lima, Peru.
In Peru I worked with a few Ex-Patriots and National Peruvians to design and establish a
Peruvian Two-Way-Bilingual-Immersion School, where I was the first teacher. The school is now
listed among the top ten schools with the Peruvian Ministry of Education. I also taught Junior &
Senior High School English grammar and literature at a small international school in Peru as well.

I have read some great new books this Summer and I am excited about adding them to my
classroom curriculum this year.

I look forward to a very successful and fun year with your children. I have
high expectations for these students, and with your help, we will be able to
accomplish great things. Please do not hesitate to call
or send an email if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Karen Asselin

Mission For The Class

Middle School is such an important time in a child's life--a time filled with excitement, challenging new
ideas and concepts, fun, and along with those, a lot of uncertainty for many. I am committed to doing
all I can to help your child have a successful year as I strive to create a safe learning environment
while meeting the needs of individual learners.
