Dear Parents & Students,
I am still in the process of updating grades based on all the work that was resubmitted. A trip to the glaze store took up prep, so have only updated sketchbooks this week.
Check under 'Sketchbook' for links to all the internet sites of been using in class. Enjoy!
Don't for get that each week you are to draw three objects (single things that will hold still while you draw them), fill up the page and spend 15 minutes capturing the details. Art and Crafts students should have 15 drawings completed, and Ceramics students should have 12 drawings completed.
Grades are skewed at the moment because no major projects have been graded. This will change next week as all classes have or will complete a major project.
Wondering about your grades? Here is what you need to do:
-
Check in Pinnacle to see what projects or work are/is missing or marked '0'
-
Decide whether you turned the work in and it was not returned, turned work in and it was returned to you needing to be reworked, or if you have not done/or turned in the work
- Based on your answer do the following:
-
Look in the lost and found bin to see if your name or period number was missing, and turn it in if you find it, the grade will be entered into the gradebook without any points deducted
-
Rework the project based on comments from Ms. Griffin [ask at lunch on Tue./Thu. if you don't know what needs to be done], and then resubmit the work writing 'resubmit + date' in the upper right hand corner under you name and period number. Work will be regraded and the new grade entered in the gradebook without any points deducted
- Complete your work and turn it is, it will be graded and grade entered without any points deducted
- Finally, if none of these fit your situation, come see me at lunch on Tue or Thu and we'll fix the problem right away!
It is very hard in art to make the grading cycle work for projects and classwork...but rest assured that deficiency notices are just heads up that some work needs to be done.
Please, if you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to email me at griffin_cynthia@k12.ca.us. Also, watch the website for changes to the layout as I continue to grow the art program and incorporate more digital technology into the classroom.
Warmest regards for a life filled with art,
Cynthia Griffin
