Mrs. Nelson-Fleck's Bio

This is my fifth year here at Cupertino Middle School and I can not imagine a better school in which
to teach! Overall I have been teaching for 13 years, the first eight in the Mt. Diablo Unified School
District, where I taught PE, Drama, Computers, 6th grade core and ran an after school program called
RAP.

I have a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Theater and a Master of Arts degree in Film Production. I
worked in New York for thirteen years in the film industry making commercials and feature films
before deciding that I would receive much more personal enjoyment from teaching. To that end I
received my teaching Credential and CLAD certificate through Chapman University. The rest is
history in the making!

I am married and have two "kits", Tyra and Ally both names short for dinosaures. Can you guess
which ones? If you do and tell me in class I will give you extra credit. I love to read, cook, hike,
scrapbook, and enjoying being outside in nature. In the past I also enjoyed white water rafting,
kayaking, rock climbing, scuba diving, and wild caving.

When I was your age I thought I would grow up to be a marine biologist. Look how life's path can
take you to unthought-of places. I am happy I ended up on this path as your teacher!!!!

Class Goal

It is my hope to instill a desire to participate in physical activity on a
regular basis for the following reasons:

"Feeling physically fit and metally positive are just two of the great
benefits of physical activity. Engaging in regular exercise gives you more
energy for all your activities and a longer, healthier life. Repeated studies
have shown that it strengthens your cardiovascular system, reduces pain,
stress and anxiety, improves balance, coordination and flexibility, and simply
provides a better quality of life."

found on the Web called "Getting Started", provided by ISL Consulting Company.
