Teaching History: This is my 6th year as a Physical Education teacher at the
middle school level and 3nd year at CMS. Before my career in teaching, I had
a long stint in the technology industry working for Sun Microsystems for 6
years. I got involved with coaching 4 years ago in Palo Alto while working at
Sun which was one of many signs that this was a career for me. I love it.
Education: I currently carry 2 Bachelor's degrees. My first is in Political Science from
UC Berkeley and my second and most recent is in Kinesiology from San Jose State where
I also got my teaching credential. I am a die hard Cal Berkeley sports fan-- GO BEARS!!!
Personal: My wife, Kim, and I were married in July, 2004 and had a daughter, Jillian,
this summer. She is our pride and joy and is keeping us very, very busy.
We have travelled to many parts of Europe and Central America together.
In fact, we spent our honeymoon on a month long trip to Guatemala, Honduras and Belize.
I am 34 years old. My mom, brother and sister live in the area. I have a sister that
lives in Orange County and a sister that lives in Germany.
Hobbies: Running marathons, cycling long distances, backpacking to remote
wilderness places, mountain biking, photography, world travel, and anything
associated with youth sports.
My philosophy is to use the guidance of the state adopted physical
education standards in utilizing multiple teaching strategies and experiences to
provide a comprehensive fitness and wellness based physical
education curriculum that will give EVERY student the tools needed to
make healthy lifestyle choices and participate in their own fitness and
wellness program throughout their lifetime.
