"So, I cheated. So what? What's the big deal?"

Before you read my policy on academic dishonesty, you should first be able to answer the above
question. If you need another kid's perspective on what's wrong with cheating, check out the

MRS. BEAUCHAMP'S POLICY ON ACADEMIC DISHONESTY (CHEATING)

Being an honest student is very important and I will not tolerate any form of dishonesty or
deception
that unfairly or improperly improves your grade on an individual or group assignment or test.
The following is a list of forms of cheating, plagiarism and other forms of dishonesty. If you are
not sure whether a particular decision would constitute academic dishonesty, ask Mrs.
Beauchamp before you do it!

Academic Dishonesty includes, but is not limited to:

Cheating on assignments or tests by copying from others, having or using notes, formulas, or
other information in a programmable device; having or using a communication device such as a
cell phone, MP3 player, pager, PDA or electronic translator to send or receive unauthorized
information; having or using a cheat sheet; altering a graded assignment or test and re-
submitting it for a higher grade; working with another person on a take-home exam unless
approved by the teacher; gaining or providing unauthorized access to the testing materials or
answer keys.

Plagiarism by copying part or all of someone elses work and submitting it as if it were your own;
providing answers to others; submitting portions of the same work in more than one class
without first checking with the teachers; failing to use quotation marks where appropriate; failing
to properly cite paraphrased materials with footnotes or a bibliography; making up data; citing
fake sources; giving or getting improper assistance on an assignment which is supposed to be
completed individually; using the services of an internet or commercial term paper company;
using the services of another student or adult.

Please Note: I will treat attempted cheating, even when unsuccessful, as academic dishonesty.
Simply possessing any prohibited or unauthorized information or device during an exam, even if
it is not used, is an act of academic dishonesty, so don't do it!

Students who are found to be dishonest will receive a failing grade on the assignment and may
have the entire course grade dropped by one full letter. Parents will be informed, and students
will receive a mark of unsatisfactory in citizenship. Second offenses will be referred to the
administration and may result in a failing grade for the class. Students who have been
academically dishonest will not be allowed to turn in extra credit work to make up for the failing
grade.

There is NEVER a good excuse to cheat. Don't believe me? Check out the following link:
