Classroom Expectations

6th Grade Expectations and Procedures  

Behavioral Expectations
•	Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Successful
•	Students must enter all classes quietly, with necessary materials, ready to begin class activities.
•	Students will not be allowed to return to other classes once a class begins.
•	When changing classes, students must have a book to read and all necessary materials.
•	Hats will not be worn in class.
•	While someone is speaking or performing, students will remain in their seats and listen 
        respectfully.
•	Grooming in class is not allowed.
•	Students are expected to use the restroom during brunch and lunch.  Students may only use the 
        restroom during class for emergencies.

Grading
•	The following point system will be used to grade the students.  
	                          B=87-89%		C=77-79%	     D=67-69%       F=59% and below
A   = 94-100%   	  B  =84-86%		C  = 74-76%	     D  =64-66%
A-  = 90-93%	          B- = 80-83%	        C -=70-73%	     D- =60-63%
	

Extra Credit
•	Extra credit may or may not be given per teacher discretion.  If offered, extra credit will be 
offered to the whole class, not individually.  However, extra credit will only count if the student has 
no missing work.

Homework
•	Homework will be assigned on most days.
•	Late homework turned in the day after it is due will receive 80% of the earned grade.  Late work
        turned in beyond that point is at the discretion of the teacher.
•	An assignment with no name will receive no credit until it is identified by the student.  Then, 
        the work will receive 80% of the earned grade.

Parent communication
•	Parents are expected to check their student’s handbook daily for homework and/or the 
       teacher’s website daily for homework assignments and for possible notes written by the teacher.
•	Patents should expect to see graded work and school announcements brought home by the 
        student.
