Assigned Tuesday, Nov. 24:

Happy Thanksgiving!

If you are behind in your castle/cathedral research, consider catching up over break. We start writing 
when we get back. 
Any late work can be turned in for half credit on Monday. I turn in grades for deficiency notices on 
Tuesday.


Assigned Monday, Nov. 23:

* Walk Two Moons message essay is due TUESDAY. You are turning in a printed version in Word, set 
in Times Roman, 12 point, double spaced. (Criterion is set up for you to copy and paste and submit 
to help edit and revise. But you are not turning this assignment IN on Criterion.)
* If you are in core 1/2 or core 3/4, you will be performing your medieval life skit. Bring your props!
* Finish your cathedral/castle research. Room 22 is open at lunch on Tuesday for research.


Assigned Thursday, Nov. 19:

* Your Walk Two Moons final essay is due on Tuesday, Nov. 24. Revise and edit at home. Laptops are 
available in Room 22 on Friday and Tuesday at lunch.  Make use of Criterion to help revise and edit 
by copying and pasting your Word document into Criterion. But remember that the final version must 
be printed out as a Word document in Times Roman font, 12 point, double spaced.
* Continue your castle/cathedral research at home or in the library.
* Last skit practice day is Friday. Skits will be performed on Tuesday.


Assigned Wednesday, Nov. 18:

* Continue research at home on your castle or cathedral.
* Work on your Walk Two Moons message essay at home this week. We will work on revising and 
editing Thursday in class. The final essay is due next Tuesday. 


Assigned Tuesday, Nov. 17:

* Continue to work on your WTM essay at home. We will have work time on Wednesday and Thursday 
in class; the final essay is due on Tuesday, Nov. 24, the day before Thanksgiving break.

* WTM chart will be checked for credit on TUESDAY.
* If you made little/no progress on your introductory paragraph in class, work on it at home. You are 
expected to have an introductory paragraph by the end of class on Tuesday.

holiday.

Assigned Friday, Nov. 13:

* No homework. 
* If your WTM chart is not at least 75% complete, you will want to work on it at home. We are starting 
our essay on Monday in class, and you do not want to take valuable much valuable writing time to 
work on the chart.

* No new homework. 6/7 core must bring completed Walk Two Moons bookmarks.


Assigned Tuesday, Nov. 10:

* WTM bookmark is due on THURSDAY.


Assigned Monday, Nov. 9:

* Key Terms for Chapter 4 due TOMORROW.
* WTM bookmark due THURSDAY.
* WTM letter from Sal to her mom should be ready to be read by Mrs. Reasner in Criterion.
* Remember your castle or cathedral! Research starts TOMORROW!


Assigned Friday, Nov. 6:

* If you did not finish your WTM letter from Sal to her mom in Criterion, and did not do your final 
"submit" please finish that assignment over the weekend. You are aiming to just fill the index-card 
window, which is about 300 words. I will not start grading those until Monday, unless you told me 
you were done.
* Key terms for Chapter 4 due Tuesday.


Assigned Thursday, Nov. 5:

* WTM map and blue venn diagram worksheets are due on FRIDAY. Map should have 13 locations -- 
then connect the dots to show Sal's route. Venn diagram should have 10 unique characteristics 
(personality traits, actions, events) for Sal, 10 for Phoebe, and 10 in the center that the two 
characters share. 


Assigned Wednesday, Nov. 4:

* WTM green character sheet is due TOMORROW. The expectation is that you will describe each 
character's role in the story and list at least two personality traits or characteristics about each one.
* WTM map and blue venn diagram are due on FRIDAY.

Remember: 1/2 core and 6/7 core report directly to the MacLab for 1st/6th periods. 3/4 core should 
report to Room 22 for 3rd period. BRING YOUR WALK TWO MOONS BOOK!

* Chapter 3 quiz TOMORROW. Study the chapter, the study guide, your Key Terms, your monastery 
day worksheets on sacraments, Thomas Aquinas and monarchs vs. church, your workbook 
questions.
* WTM:
  1/2 core: vocabulary worksheet (both sides) due TOMORROW.
  3/4 core: read chapter 39; vocabulary worksheet due WEDNESDAY.
  6/7 core: read chapter 39; vocabulary worksheet due WEDNESDAY.

* Social Studies workbook stamp check at 3 p.m. MONDAY for Chapter 3, sections 3.2 through 3.8.

Assigned Monday, Oct. 19:

* Finish your feudalism packet COVER and any feudalism WORKSHEETS you did not complete in class. 
Packet will be assembled and turned in TOMORROW.
* Study for feudalism quiz TOMORROW. Use your study guide, Chapter 2 in your history book, and 
your workbook notes.
LOOKING AHEAD: 
  Heraldry shield is due WEDNESDAY. (There will be 20 minutes of class time to work on it Tuesday.)
  Outside reading project is due on FRIDAY. Staple the secondary character chart to your composition 
and turn in any time.

* Continue working on your feudalism packet cover. Finish any packet worksheets that you did not

website, then click on the etymology dictionary for an online dictionary with word origins.
* Reminder that your outside reading project is due on Friday, Oct. 23. You should have finished your 
book by now.

Assigned Thursday, Oct. 8:

* Make sure you have read chapters 10 and 11 in Walk Two Moons and written WTM Journal #2 in 
your language arts notebook.  Bring your novel and notebook to class!
*Review preposition rules and sentence examples in preparation for test next week. On the day of 
the test I will give credit for all completed preposition example and review sentences.


Assigned Wednesday, Oct. 7:

* No homework due on Thursday. It's Defend Your Manor! day. Bring a cooperative, fun attitude.
* Read chapters 10 and 11 of "Walk Two Moons" for Friday and write a response to WTM Journal #2 in 
your Language Arts notebook. Due Friday.
* You should finish your outside reading book this week. Fill in the chart -- 10 instances where your 
secondary character says or does something significant. Your paper about your secondary character 
is due on Friday, Oct. 23. Two weeks!!!!!
* Review preposition rules and sentence examples, especially the parts of speech you are missing 
during our review sessions. Test will be next week. Sing the preposition song to a parent. :)


Assigned Tuesday, Oct. 6:

* Read chapters 7 and 8 in Walk Two Moons. Bring a question to add to our class overhead sheets.
* Review preposition rules and sentence examples in preparation for a test in about a week. Sing 
preposition song to your siblings. :)


Assigned Monday, Oct. 5:

* 8-picture story DUE TOMORROW!!!
* If you did not have your Dark Ages character ready on Friday, be sure to complete that assignment 
as credit will be assigned for it in the Feudalism Packet.
* Review preposition sentences and rules in preparation for test in about a week. Sing preposition 
song in the shower.

Assigned Friday, Oct. 2:

* If you were not able to create your Dark Ages character Thursday night, please do so as soon as 
possible. This can be done in the MacLab at school during brunch or lunch, too.
* Continue working on your 8-picture story. It is due on TUESDAY. It should be one to two pages, 
double spaced. While you need to include all 8 pictures, remember that you are not writing a novel. It 
will be evaluated on how well you understand story structure.
* Remember to bring your Walk Two Moons book with you.


Assigned Thursday, Oct. 1:

* Create your Dark Ages character. Go to the Links page on this website and click on the Dark Ages 
assignment. Print it out and bring to class FRIDAY.
* Continue to work on your 8-picture short story.
* If you want to do the Social Studies extra credit, go to the Links page and click on "Theodora 
Euology." The instructions on the sheet no longer work as TCI has retooled its website.


Assigned Wednesday, Sept. 30:

* Be sure to bring back your Social Studies workbook to class on Thursday. 

* Continue to work on your creative writing assignment, the 8-picture short story. This becomes a 
Language Arts homework assignment starting tonight.
   1. Story needs to include all 8 pictures.
   2. Story should be one to two typed pages.
   3. Standard format: Times Roman, 12 point, double spaced. Name, period, date in upper right 
corner.
   4. Final version due TUESDAY, Oct. 6.

* No Social Studies homework.


Assigned Tuesday, Sept. 29:

* Study for Roman Empire/Byzantine Empire test on WEDNESDAY. 
* Complete story outline and bring to class WEDNESDAY.
* REMEMBER YOUR USB!!! We are going to the MacLab Wednesday for a period of story drafting.


Assigned Monday, Sept. 28:

* Review Study Guide for Rome/Byzantine empires test. Bring questions Tuesday for our review 
session.
* Finish Sports Lit worksheet and glue into your Language Arts notebook. Be sure you completed 
Journal Prompts #1 and #2 for the sports poems.
* ADVANCE ALERT: Bring your USB to class on Wednesday. We will be going to the mac lab.

* Read section 6.4 about the Eastern Orthodox Church in your history textbook.

Assigned Tuesday, Sept. 22:

* Political cartoon assignment is due TOMORROW.
   1. Choose one of the 10 theories.
   2. Draw a political cartoon to illustrate the theory. It can be modern-day or Roman times.
   3. Color it.
   4. On the BACK put your name and the name of the theory.

 
 Monday, Sept. 21:

* Read your "10 Theories" handout and section 1.2 of your history textbook in preparation for our 
cartoon activity about the Fall of Rome (476) on Tuesday.
* Any late work for the progress report period must be turned in to Mrs. Reasner by 8 a.m. Tuesday.
* Check your grades on Pinnacle for discrepancies or Z's (wasn't turned in). 


Assigned Thursday, Sept. 17:

* Coin worksheet DUE MONDAY. Bring your coin if you can, but DO NOT bring anything valuable. 
State quarters work great for this assignment. Students who want to talk to their parents about 
becoming U.S. citizens can share that conversation on Monday instead.
* The longitude/latitude makeup quiz will be given MONDAY AT LUNCH in room 22. 


Assigned Tuesday, Sept. 15:

* "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi" reading comprehension and vocabulary quiz is on WEDNESDAY.
* Key terms for Chapters 1 and 6 are due THURSDAY.
* Workbook questions for 1.3, 14.4, 1.5, 1.6 are due THURSDAY.


Assigned Monday, Sept. 14:

* Bring the completed draft of your "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi" personification paragraph to class on Tuesday.  
We will be in the Mac Lab for the first period of core. Meet Mrs. Reasner at the door to the Mac Lab.
* Key Terms and pages 8 and 9 in your Social Studies workbook are due Thursday. 
* Rikki-Tikki-Tavi quiz on Wednesday -- reading comprehension and vocabulary (5 words), plus a 
response-to-literature quick write.

* RTT character comparison paragraph due at end of class Tuesday. We will be going to the mac lab 
on Tuesday to type up our final version and make our last editing corrections.

* On THURSDAY, bring your signed coin form and $10 cash in an envelope if you want to purchase a 
Roman coin. 
* "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi" character traits worksheet must be brought to class completed on  FRIDAY, 
along with the vocabulary sheet on the other side. 


Assigned Tuesday, Sept. 8:

* Finish, edit, revise your "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi" summary paragraph. Follow the guidelines on the 
assignment sheet (back of your plot diagram). The final version is due WEDNESDAY (tomorrow))!!!
You may type or print neatly. If you type, the standard format is 12 point, double spaced, Times 
Roman.


Assigned Friday, Sept. 4:

* No new homework -- have a great Labor Day Weekend!
* On Tuesday we will have an open-notes Explorers Quiz. Be sure to bring your completed gold-
colored notes handouts with you unless Mrs. Reasner has held onto them.
* You should have a draft of your "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi" summary paragraph by now. We will continue to 
edit and revise these in class on Tuesday. The final version will be due on Wednesday, giving you 
time to type it at home if you like. You may turn in your final version typewritten or handwritten. 
Standard for typewritten compositions is 12 point type, double-spaced, Times Roman font.


Assigned Wednesday, Sept. 2:

* Read Chapter 33.4 in your history textbook and fill in the corresponding squares for Spain in your 
Exploration Summary Chart. Follow the same procedures you used with your partner today in 
reading the Portugal section. 
LOOKING AHEAD: Thursday's homework will be to read Chapter 33.6 about the English, Dutch and 
French explorers and fill in the chart. On Friday I will be grading both handouts (Key Terms/What 
Made the Age of Exploration Possible? plus Exploration Summary Chart) and doing my final stamp of 
workbooks.

* Reread any parts of the "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi" story you may not be clear on.


Assigned Tuesday, Sept. 1:

* Look up the Key Terms for Chapter 33 and write the definitions on your Key Terms sheet. All but 
one are highlighted blue words in the margins  of pages in Chapter 33. A hint for people who check 
the website: "sea dogs" can be found on page 385.


Assigned Monday, Aug. 31:

* Final Favorite Book presentations are Tuesday and Wednesday. Be prepared!
* Have your Social Studies and Language Arts folders and your Language Arts notebook with you at 
all times. We will be using the Language Arts notebook this week.
* NOTE: We did not get to key terms today, so those of you who diligently wrote down Key Terms as 
homework should note that that assignment has been deferred a day.


Assigned Friday, Aug. 28:

* No new homework.
* If you have not given your Favorite Book presentation, be prepared to be called on on Monday. 
Make sure you have your book!!
* Remember to have your SS and LA folders plus your LA notebook with you at all times!

Assigned Thursday, Aug. 27:

No new homework.
* Be prepared to give your "favorite book" presentation. We are doing five per day through next week.
* If you didn't turn your world map in today, make sure you have it with you to finish in class 
tomorrow. ALWAYS HAVE YOUR SS AND LA FOLDERS AND LA NOTEBOOK WITH YOU!


Assigned Wednesday, Aug. 26:

* Bring COMPLETED FINAL VERSION of "Where I'm From"  poem to class THURSDAY. You will have 15 
minutes of illustration time in class before you turn it in.
* Be prepared to give your "favorite book" presentation. We will do five a day over the next week.


Tuesday, Aug. 25:

* Continue to work on the six verses of your "Where I'm From" poem. We will have a period tomorrow 
for revising, editing and planning illustrations. The final version, neatly typed or printed and 
illustrated 
in color, is due Thursday.
* "Favorite Book" presentations begin WEDNESDAY. Be prepared to be called on. Bring in your book 
with 
your name in the book or on a post-it.


Assigned Monday, Aug. 24:

* Prepare your "Favorite Book" presentation and acquire the book. The assignment is due Wednesday, 
although you may actually present your book later in the week.
* Collect ideas for your "Where I'm From" poem. We will work on the draft in class Tuesday. Making a 
list is a good idea -- customs your family observes, phrases you say, how you will describe what is 
important to you, what "landscape" you will describe, etc. Refer to the assignment sheet. 


Assigned Friday, August 21:

* Have your parents fill out their "homework forms" and return them by Monday for extra credit 
points.
* Get your parents to sign page 4 of your planner.
* Prepare your "Favorite Book" presentation and acquire the book. This assignment is due 
Wednesday.


Assigned Thursday, August 20:

* Please have your parents fill out their homework form and return it by Monday for credit points.
* Please give your parents the team letter, the Opening Day packet, the lunch service information 
and 
the insurance forms.
* Don't forget to wear your nametag!
