About The Teacher

I grew up on a wheat farm in central Montana. It was a small community with
only 100 kids attending a K-12 school. Sadly, the town has shrunk in size to
the point where the kids are now bussed to a consolidated school many miles away.

I enjoy telling my students about some of my life's experiences, especially
when I can relate them to an activity or event that we're currently studying
in class. Real life experiences students can make a connection with helps them
understand the importance of what is being taught.

My adult years were spent living in western Montana near Glacier Park. I
definitely miss the majestic beauty and the calming peace and quiet of the
forested mountains. However, I love California and all its diversity and
opportunities that cannot be found in Montana.

I didn't have an opportunity to attend college until later in life, but once I
entered the academic atmosphere of Montana State University, and later
National University in Fresno, California, I found a love for learning that
I'd never experienced in my youth. I guess I figured it was the last chance I
had to prove that I could do it! Currently, I'm working on my doctorate in
education leadership.

I've been teaching 12 years. The first 3 in Fresno, and I'm now beginning my
tenth year in Cupertino. I like teaching because each day is different and
challenging. I couldn't work in an atmosphere where there wasn't change and
stimulation. But, when the day is done, I love going home to my family and
spending time playing with and caring for my four year
old daughter.

My personal goal as a teacher is to do the very best I can to teach the kids
the curriculum in an interesting and stimulating environment. I want them to
learn a lot and have fun in the process. Sixth graders are challenged by
learning to develop more sophisticated writing and communication skills
as well as more complex math problem solving strategies, but there is still
time to play and have fun in the process.

Mission For The Class

Listen carefully. Follow directions. Work quietly: do not disturb others who
are working. Respect others: be kind with your words and actions. Respect
school and personal property.Work and play safely. Have fun and learn!!
