Language Arts:  Finish Think Questions #1-5: Hatchet. Study Sync page for quicklink.

                             Use ACE to complete.  This was modeled in class today.  We did

                             question #1 together and all students have this as a model.  We discussed

                             questions #2-5 and students should use Find the Evidence to guide them

                             in answering these questions.

                             Read for 20 minutes

Social Studies:   Continue working with Chapter 1 Section 1 Workbook

Wednesday: August 17th

Language Arts:  Focus Questions- 2 Multiple Choice- Submit on Study Sync
                             Grammar Handout- Fragments- Pages 1 & 2- Complete #1-15 only.
                             Students need to finish Think Question #8 if they did not finish with their
                             partner in class.  Once they do this, they will submit "The Hatchet" first
                             read.
                             Students will then complete the Skills Focus- Re-read the define and model
                             videos, and answer the Focus Your Turn Questions.  Remember to submit.
                             Read for 20 minutes
Social Studies:   Guided Reading 1.1- Use the book to re-read and fill in the blanks.

Thursday: August 18th
Language Arts:  Finish Close Read Annotations Hatchet online- Study Sync
                             Answer Close Read Focus Questions #1-3 on the Google Classroom
                             document under Language Arts.  Remember you have to print these and
                             turn them in tomorrow.  If you cannot print, write them on a separate of
                             paper.  All annotations will be made in your workbook, but most should
                             have been done in class.
                             Study for Hatchet Vocabulary and Skills Tests
                             Read for 20 minutes
Social Studies:   Review and finish Chapter 1.1 workbook if not done in class.
                            Review for 1.1 quiz- This will be an open book quiz.

                            or ?/Comment).  Then, write the main idea for the paragraphs as 

                           modeled and noted in class.  Use your Purple annotation paper to guide

Language Arts:  Go online to Study Sync and complete the 4 multiple choice questions related
                             to the Main Idea/Central Idea skill and Greek/Latin Roots.  Remember you
                             can review the paper handouts from class today and the Study Sync lesson
                             assignment in your portfolio.  Feel free to review the videos.
                             Read for 20 minutes
Social Studies:   Guided Reading 1.2- Use the book to re-read and fill in the blanks.

Thursday: August 25th
Language Arts:  Finish Close Read Questions assigned to you.  You can either write them on a

                             1 complete slide and 1 collaborative slide.
                             Highlight 10 vocabulary words from "Dragonwings" and predict their
                             meaning based on context clues.  Please write the word and prediction on a
                             lined sheet of paper. (6 required words: lynched, clans, dynasty, dictation,
                             heirlooms, phoenix/ Students will then select 4 of their own)

                             do not need to answer questions 5 & 6.  A total of 10 annotation need to be
                             completed for the other questions.

                             correct definition when we complete the Close Read. 
                             Vocabulary Words: barred, shrewd, rebellion, bigoted, inspiration, moguls,
                             counterbalanced, hostile, staunch, and profited.
                             Complete at least 5 peer reviews for the Blast: Innovative Immigrants on
                             Study Sync.  Please use the yellow rubric handed out in the beginning of the
                             year to grade on a scale of 1-5.  Remember to write a constructive comment
                             too!

                           Read.  Remember to follow the annotation guidelines. Annotations will be

                            question.
