Message from the Counseling office:
The 2011-2012 school year is getting underway! I feel fortunate and excited
about entering my seventh year as school counselor at Delta Vista.
With July now a blur, we are busied in August re-establishing our school/work
routines. I am looking forward to greeting and getting to know the entering
6th graders. One way I begin to accomplish establishing mutual familiarity
is with my annual 6th grade classroom presentations. The purpose of these
presentations is to provide a forum to introduce myself and some of the
counseling services I provide at DV.
The beginning of the school year tends to move swiftly as I greet newly
enrolled students, fine tune student’s schedules, and interact with returning
students. Additionally, I will be coordinating and chairing meetings to
ensure the needs of our students with supportive accommodations are being met.
At the top of my to-do list: I will schedule and complete annual
accommodation review meetings, implement my Lunch Group (all grades welcome
Monday’s/Thursday’s; students interested see me), engage community resources
to lend support in expanding upon our positive school climate, continue
collaborative planning for Boyz Time coming in December, and facilitate
supportive interpersonal relationships with students.
What’s on the horizon:
