WHAT IS THE HOMEWORK POLICY?

Your child will have homework most everyday. If your child is
struggling with homework, please let me know immediately. I feel
that parents can help in making homework a positive experience
for their children. Therefore, I ask that parents make homework
a top priority, provide necessary supplies, and a quiet homework
environment for a specific amount of time every school night.

Please go over assigned homework with your child. Homework
assignments will always be written and communicated verbally for
students to copy down in their school provided Student Agendas. I
strongly believe in the value positive support plays in
motivating children to develop good study habits.

Homework is always due at the beginning of the period.

HOW ARE WORK HABITS CALCULATED?

The possible grades for work habits are Excellent (E),
Satisfactory (S) and Unsatisfactory (U). For 6th grade
math/science and music, there are two criteria for calculating
your work habits grades.

TARDIES
A student who is not in his or her seat at the sound of the tardy
bell is considered tardy.

EXCUSED TARDIES
A student who is tardy and brings a note from a teacher or
administrator shall be considered excused.

If a student begins to show a pattern of receiving excused
tardies on a regular basis, the teacher is not obligated to
continue to accept them and will make an effort to resolve the
tardiness problem with the 6th Grade Counselor.

A TOTAL OF 10 UNEXCUSED TARDIES REACHED AT ANY TIME DURING THE
SEMESTER IS
A U FOR THE SEMESTER

HOW IS COOPERATION CALCULATED?

You determine your cooperation grade.

Expectations include expressing ideas and feelings in appropriate
ways that are respectful of the classroom teacher and other
students. A student demonstrating successful learner behaviors
avoids absences and tardies.

Due to time constraints and the large number of students that are
in my classes, it is difficult to telephone parents every time a
problem occurs.

It is the parent's responsibility to see that assignments are
completed, the student arrives at school on time, and that
behavior problems are corrected.

SHOULD I KNOW ANYTHING ELSE?

My conference period is 6th period. The time varies depending on
the day of the week. If you would like to meet after school,
please contact me at the
school (310) 241-1900 at least two days in advance as teachers
have several meetings scheduled throughout the week after school.

These are very demanding courses. In order to do well in
the class, students must listen and follow directions. I pride
myself on my organization and preparedness. In order to do well,
students must also be organized and come to class prepared every
day.

In order to pass this class, students must do the
following:
1. Do all classwork and homework.
2. Turn in all homework on the due date.
3. Study for all quizzes, tests and projects.
4. Pass all quizzes, tests and projects.
