About The Teacher

This is my eighth year at Duveneck, but my fifteenth year actually
teaching. I previously taught at Sedgwick Elementary School
in the Cupertino Union School District. I have taught third through sixth
grade.

I was born and raised in Orange County, California in
Westminster. After high school, I came up to the Bay area
to attend College. I received a Business Administration degree with an
emphasis on Computer Information Systems. I received
my teaching credentials at the College of Notre Dame and have my
CLAD certificate.

I love traveling, running, hanging out with friends, and playing the piano.
My biggest wish is to get a dog.

Mission For The Class

I am committed to the total growth and well being of all students. I
believe students best learn in an environment that is challenging,
secure, and meet their academic,
social, and emotional needs. In order for this to happen, I spend time
creating a classroom where students feel a sense of belonging,
competency, and autonomy.
Students are guided towards lessons and activities that develop their
self-confidence, independence, and problem solving skills. From this
enriching environment,
students feel a sense of belonging. Thus creating a community of
learners where students are encouraged and given opportunities to
take responsibility in their
learning, assume greater control in setting their own learning goals,
and to collaborate actively with others in achieving these goals. My
strong literacy, mathematics,
and technology background allow me to integrate curriculum and to use
interactive projects, knowing my students will be responsible and
actively engaged.
Finally, my goal as an educator when students leave my classroom is
that I have deepened their commitment to being kind, helpful,
responsible, and respectful of
others – qualities which are essential to leading humane and
productive lives in a democratic society. Moreover, students possess a
real sense of joy and inquiry
toward learning, have the knowledge and skills to be thoughtful and
analytical when solving problems, and have developed strong
communication and interpersonal
skills.
