I have been teaching for 10 years at Duveneck. I taught Third grade for 5 years before teaching Fifth
grade. Originally from Calcutta, India I immigrated to the US in 1985. My husband and I have two
children.
I have a Masters in English Literature from the University of Calcutta, India. In 1993 I received my
Teaching Credential from SJSU and started teaching grade 5 in Milpitas. In 2003 I became a National
Board Certified Teacher. I have taken up many leadership positions in the district and am currently
part of the District Math Network, and a member of the District Equity Team. I have done various
workshops in math, social studies, and writing, for teachers in the district. I am continuously growing
professionally by taking workshops or classes in different areas related to my profession.
I believe I am a lifelong learner and am continuously learning from my students and colleagues. I
believe every child is uniquely gifted and has a potential to learn. My goal is to meet my students
where they are and provide them with the challenging environment necessary to grow and learn.
I believe that parents and teachers need to work together to provide the ideal education for a child.
When not working in the classroom, I enjoy time with my family, walking, reading, yoga, and travel.
