I have been teaching for over 8 years and the job just keeps getting better.
I love the activities and thinking involved with teaching science. After
studying Biology at San Jose State University, I worked in field biology
before serving in the Peace Corps in 1997. I lived in Bulgaria for over
2 years, working as a project manager and educator for the city of Silistra.
I started teaching at Egan in 2001.
When I'm not working, I enjoy all types of athletics and activities.
Specifically, I play on soccer and softball teams. During the summers,
I go wakeboarding and travel as much as possible. I also spend time with
my wife and my 5 brothers and 5 sisters. Flying is rare joy of mine.
I believe that science is both lived and learned. I would like for students
to come out of 8th grade science with, not only a solid background and
understanding of our standards-based curriculum, but also an ability to
observe and think critically about the world in which they live. This will
be achieved through in-class, and group activities, as well as individual
assignments at home.
