Please differentiate between the two some way (e.g. colorcoding, font) 8TH GRADE ROAD TRIP PROJECT (60 points) This project has to do with our Geography standards. It's important to know the states and landmarks that we will be using throughout the year. The objective is for the student to research several points of interest and plot them on a map as they learn their states. The goal is to improve the students comprehension of United States when they take their states test. Lesson is as follows: You will be taking an imaginary road trip across the United States, having to visit several areas. 3 national parks 3 landmarks 3 sports teams 3 buisness corporations 3 places of interest to you Be careful not to take an impractical trip (you will want to make a forward movement and not to go up and down and back up and downs across the states). The rubric will be attached to the back of the handout. As soon as we can download our worksheets to this website, I will attach. A handout and map will be given out in class. An almanac and atlas will be handy to have on the side. Coloring utensils and neatness are a must. Be creative. COLONIAL BROCHURES (25 points) Make a brochure on 3 colonies of the same area (Southern colonies, Middle colonies or New England colonies). Brochures must have three parts to them. The first being the historical background of the colony: i.e Who founded? When? Reasons founded? 2nd part should be state information like climate and geography, state bird, state motto, ect. The 3rd thing should be why people would want to come to that colony today. More of a travel brochure. Each part will be 30% of the grade. Creativity and neatness will account for 10%. NATIVE AMERICAN PROJECT Open ended project due ____________. 75 points. This project has been designed for the creative student and chance to express what they have learned about native Americans. The project should be on poster board, good visuals and limited amount of writing. I should be able to glance at it and know what you're project represents. Do not cut and paste. Extra points given for creativity! Pioneer Journals (60 points) This is a journal written to Mr. Tagert about your journey you have chosen. You should have 6 entries in all. Entry 1 should include the route, date, mode of transportation, why you are leaving, and the length of time that it will take you to get to your destination. Entries 2 -5 should be along your trail sharing your hardships and sketching your landmarks that you see on the way. Be sure to have entry 5 on the last leg of your trip, clearly stating whether you took the Mormon, California, Oregon or Sante Fe Trail. Terminology of the food and slang been used during the time should be used. FINAL Week of May 30th - June 1st Three choicesÉ pick 1 Choice A Comprehensive Final This final is approximately 200 questions with the majority of them being fill in the answer. Choice B Oral presentation This final is becoming a person in the time era that we discussed this past year. Speech should contain the following: Why important Events going on in that time What would have happened if not alive Bring in props / visuals and get dressed for the part for extra credit! Don't forget that you are the person so the presentation must be memorized. I will allow cue cards if needed. Choice C History timeline A history timeline of what was learned this past year. It must go in chronicle order of the units we discussed. Be sure to have at least 5 events per unit.
