On May 23, 2011 Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Wesley announced that El Rancho High School would become the 17th teen court in Los Angeles County. The court would be the only court serving the surrounding communities in the San Gabriel area. Over nine hundred students have attended seven court sessions listening to 13 juvenile cases. On May 24, 2012 the court honored its founding members including:

The event also honored the Teen Court Club officers and outstanding teen court officers. Special awards were given to the City of Pico Rivera and the El Rancho Unified School District for their collaboration in bringing teen court to Pico Rivera. The Teen Court Coordinator, Raul Elias called this “One of many collaborations between the city and district to improve the overall quality of life in our community.”
