Someday...
First of all I want to say "Thank you" to all the members of Emmaus for
remembering me during "Pastor Appreciation Month." You cards, notes, gifts and
especially your prayers and support are much appreciated during these
challenging times!
One of my responsibilities and joys as a pastor is to help people find their
romes in the life and ministry of the church. One of the most challenging
aspects of this area is working with "time" available and "schedules."
Today many people live their lives according to an eight day week. They have
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and SOMEDAY.
They plan to do noble things--like serve in the church and adequately support
the church--SOMEDAY. God stewards know the truth. The fact is that SOMEDAY is
not a day in the week and therefore SOMEDAY never comes. The time to serve the
Lord is right now--today!
Your Stewardship Ministry Team has been working very hard to develop a list of
opportunities or ways you can serve at Emmaus. They have asked me to present
that list to the membership so we can get more people involved in services.
I am not going to wait for SOMEDAY to do that--I am going to do it on
Sunday--Sunday, November 8th at both worship services. We will take the time
to look at the many opportunities God has given us to serve Him right here at
Emmaus. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 12, "There are different kinds of
gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the
same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all
of them in all His people. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit,
and He gives them to each one, just as He determines."
Discover your gift and find joy in serving the Lord here at Emmaus!
Blessings because of Jesus--
Your Fellow Kingdom worker,
Pastor Vern Ermeling
