Now that first quarter is over we are moving into a busy second quarter.
Please note the following:
Field Trips: We will be going to San Juan Capistrano on November 19. On
January 21 we will go to Rancho Beuna Vista.
Sacramento Trip: The next payment of $165 will be on January 18. Please see
Ms. Beatty or Mrs. Marek if you have any questions.
Bible: We are studying about God’s faithfulness and His faithfulness to His
people. Next we will be studying how God’s people should be faithful to God
and to others. In December we will be studying angels and the birth of Jesus
Christ.
CA History: The students will learn about Colonial California: Spanish
Explorers and Settlers and Mexican California. We will also learn how
newcomers changed California: the Gold Rush and how California became a state.
We will start working our California State Report. This is a report that is
mostly done at school.
Language Arts: We will continue to enhance reading skills in vocabulary and
comprehension. Our skill lessons in our workbook include rhyme, identifying
cause-effect relationships, synonyms, antonyms, fiction, nonfiction, and
reading a time line. . In our English books we will be studying,
capitalization, pronouns, verbs, letter writing, and practice creative writing
skills. In Spelling we will work on words as we continue sharpening
memorization skills, dictionary skills, use of prefixes and suffixes, compound
words, and the dividing of syllables in words.
Science: November through January we will study electricity and magnets.
Math: The A Beka Math program is in full swing. We learn one or two new
concepts every day. We practice the skills we learn daily. Please go over
the daily work carefully since it is the practice for the weekly quizzes or tests.
Holiday: November and December will require that we stay focused and study
hard due to the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Please remember to keep
reading for goal during these vacations.
Our holiday concert for the fourth grade classes will be on Tuesday, December
1 at 7 PM.
It is our wish that the Lord will richly bless you during these holiday
seasons. Here are some Scripture verses to help you keep the true meaning of
these precious holidays.
For Thanksgiving:
“I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with Thanksgiving.” Psalm 69:30
For Christmas:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever
believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send
his Son into the world to condemn the word, but to save the world through him.
Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands
condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and
only Son.” John 3:16-18
Have a wonderful and Christ-filled season.
