About Power Learning Program (PLP)

Welcome to PLP

We are so thrilled to be working with your child. PLP is supervised by Mr.
Stafford and he is assisted by numerous teachers and aides. Wonderful and
exciting things are happening in math, reading and English.

PLP is a small group setting where children can learn in a less distracting
environment, with one on one or small group instruction. It is very
effective. We work with students who have gaps in their learning, are
behind in some of their skills, or learn better in a smaller environment.

Last school year, as always, many of the PLP students remediated their
educational difficulties and went back to the regular classroom.

Please feel free to contact me anytime for a chat, email me, or stop by
after school if you have any questions or comments. If your child is not a
PLP student and you are interested in this service, contact your child's
teacher or email me. (rstafford@ecslions.org)

This year the school-wide Expected School Learning Results, ESLR,
is "Natural and Effective Communicators." In PLP we will be working on
applying appropriate strategies in order to learn concepts and skills. We
will work toward developing a personal enjoyment of reading. We will strive
to communicate clearly by writing with clarity, coherence, and good grammar.
We will also apply the scripture and its truth to our thoughts and ideas when
we write. Thirdly, we learn to take personal responsibility in the learning
process.

PLP three main goals:

     1) We desire to build up and encourage students in a safe learning
        environment.

     2) We desire to help students with academic achievement, fill in any
academic gaps, and help students experience academic success.

     3) We support the classroom teacher in teaching responsibility.

PLP values:

     1) We value students as individuals, realizing they have distinct
         strengths and weaknesses.

     2)	We value our students time and use it wisely to meet our, and their,
        goals.

PLP Mission Statement:

PLP, within the boundaries of ECS, will seek to provide a further nurturing
environment where children are inspired to be their best, conquer their
challenges, diligently work on their academic weaknesses, and support others
in their efforts to do the same, as they develop a daily walk with Jesus and
become Kingdom driven children.
