We are starting to look at next year, and how we can go about bringing more experiences into the school for the students. One idea is to start a Spanish program two days per week after school next year. We have been working with HSU professors from the foreign language and education departments, and they are very excited about undertaking this new endeavor with us. As I am sure you are aware, funding for public schools has decreased over the past few years, thus making new programs difficult if not completely impossible to fund. The Fieldbrook Educational Foundation may be able to help us with this endaeavor, but in order to do so we need to ascertain how many parents would be truly interested and committed to this new program. Please be watching for a survey that will be coming home regarding this matter, and take a few minutes to complete it and get it returned to the office.
We are also looking into the possibility of putting on a school play, and bringing in local artists to do various forms of art with students.
We take a great deal of pride in being a community school here at Fieldbrook. If you are interested in becoming involved in your school we encourage you to volunteer as a reader in the classroom, or as a math tutor after school. Students love to read to adults, and it benefits them in so many different ways. It helps them gain confidence in themselves, it helps their fluency rate, and most of all it helps them see how much enjoyment there is in reading. From time to time students also need a little help in math. Contact me at 839-3201 if you are interested in volunteering and we will get you set up to help!

As I stated earlier, we take pride in being a community school. One of our goals is to keep out campus clean and healthy for our students. We could use your help here as well. If you want to bring your dog onto the campus, please have them on a leash, and please clean up if they leave a little "calling card". These little "calling cards" pose a big problem for us when they get tracked into the classrooms and onto the carpets. Recently we have had multiple occurrances of "doodoo" being tracked into the classrooms. This is a potential health hazard for our kids, and we really need your help!

The Broadway Animal Hospital will be using our parking lot here at the school on Saturday, April 21st, to set up their mobile unit. They will be here form 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to provide health care and immunizations here in the valley. This is a service they provide at many different schools throughout the county.
