GATE Homework

Week #3

1. Read pages 121 - 161, chapters 9 through 11.

2. Continue to note key points from each chapter. In addition to those, this week jot down a thoughtful entry now and then, considering one or more of the following as you read:

· Racism and the Civil Rights Movement

· What is the central problem of the book

· Analyzing the relationships between the characters in the story

3. Meet with your teammates today in class and before we meet next time and decide

· what segments of your section of the book you feel are necessary and/or desirable to include in your script

· who will be writing each segment of your script (all should write at least one scene individually or with a partner)

· who will be your final recorder and/or editor of the script and how you’ll all get copies (you need one copy for each actor plus one for me)

· who will do what in the performance – playing which parts, including narrator

I’ll provide you with time to do some of the writing and planning in class next time, but it’s best if you can have the work you’ll need to do partially mapped out before we meet.
