This is my 24th year at Forkner. I absolutely love science and art,
as well as learning in general. I don't believe learning ever ends, and I
find it exciting to keep learning more and more. I have been trained in
D.B.A.E. (Discipline Based Art Education), as well as informal science,
Project Wild and Project Wild Aquatic. I have attended a wide variety of
science training workshops and conferences. I have also been trained by the
Geography Alliance. In addition, several summers ago I attended a Step Up
to Writing training session. It made me eager to teach writng once
again. I am learning how to use the Smart board, but I still have a way to
go. This summer I attended the Math Academy for two weeks and will do so for
the following two years. The goal of this grant is to begin to prepare
students conceptually for algebra by middle school starting in 3rd grade. I
have run Science Club in the Fall(and may again), and still coach Science
Olympiad ususally beginning in January. My reward is the excitement I see on
children's faces when they are turned on by science.
Since I consider myself to be a life-long learner, my goal is to create a
classroom of life-long learners. I will do everything in my power to make
your child fall in love with learning. I want them to see how exciting
learning can be. I believe all children can and want to learn, and that
makes my job finding the best way for each and every child to learn.
