Dear Room 20 students and parents,
I am excited about being your student's teacher this year at Forkner at the top of the heap as a
sixth grade teacher.
Our kids did a great job at camp acting maturely and learning lots of Science concepts of the
Central Coast and the seven ecosystems found there. Thanks so much to Room 20's two moms who
came along as trailer chaperones. Mrs. Joanne Schwabenland and Mrs. Diana Naveira now
understand the rigors of a week at camp with the teachers and kids, and we all appreciate our week
together. We hope you had a great time!
The first quarter is over and grades are posted, time to evaluate the first quarter's progress.
Classroom behavior has been a real plus in room 20. This group has been respectful of their teacher
and classmates during classwork. They have been Friday Spirit Champions several times this
quarter. The ticket winners for good attention and participation in classroom competitions have
been treated to a pizza lunch party recently.
Grades have generally been really high or fairly low, usually based on classroom focus or
homework completion during the evening. Actually, we've had very little homework this quarter
compared with other 1st quarter beginnings. Teachers love to see each assignment be your
student's masterpiece and the best effort each time. It's what we shoot for at Forkner.
It will great to coordinate parent and teacher plans for student success for our remainder of the
year. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again at Parent-Teacher Conferences.
We are focusing on many interesting areas of the FUSD Sixth Grade curriculum to ready our
student to be successful in Middle School.
Thanks for checking in! Mr. Bruce Lundberg
