Welcome to 2nd quarter Biology!
ANNOUNCEMENTS:  I start grades over each quarter. I also start to individualize lesson plans and requirements. For instance, an organized student might not have his planner checked, but a struggling student might still be required to do so.
 
Week of Monday 11/2/09 through Friday 11/6/09:
 
Monday 11/2:
Planner Check (for select students), W-Up: 1. Comment on Van Helmont. 2. Write the photosynthesis reaction forward and backward. Memorize it., Name new classroom monitors, Video Notes: "Plant Structure", Receive SPR's (grades).
Homework: Due 11/3:

2) Read 8.1 and 8.2 and start your written study device
 
Tuesday 11/3:

Planner, W-Up: 1. List the molecules found in the light reactions of photosynthesis. 2. Sketch an ATP molecule., Receive 2 3"x5" cards (Use to create your "cheat sheet" to be used on next Friday's test. Must be handwritten, is mandatory, front and back is okay, due after test is taken), Check out a laptop and explore http://tinyurl.com/c52bn, then click biology links and go to John Kyrk's site, then take the Photosynthesis Quiz.

Planner Check, Teacher initials on "Cheat Sheet" card, W-Up: 1 & 2: List #'s and molecules of the Calvin Cycle., Go over 8.1 and 8.2 GR, Go through Calvin Cycle with videos and with book diagrams, In basket: paragraphs describing observations of bag-covered leaf and paper-covered leaf.

Tuesday 11/10:
Planner, W-Up: 1. What is the sequential flow of electrons in the light dependent reations? 2. Leaves change color in fall. Why?, Go over Test Format, Go over 8.3 GR answers, Receive laptops and go through Calvin cycle websites.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: You may use one 4"x6" notecard, front and back, on Friday's quiz. The quiz will be 20-25 multiple choice questions long and will count in the test category - but will have half the value of normal tests.
