Welcome to Harper Science Department! Thanks to past donors and volunteers, we have a wonderful program that encourages kids to become more involved in their own science education. We try to make this involvement enjoyable as well as educational. Please let us know if you have questions, suggestions, and even, dare I write it...complaints. Please check individual classes for specific assignments or contact teachers via email by typing their initial/name (see below) along with @djusd.k12.ca.us kmckim, jobrien, cdimond, isalim, or hrounds Lectures: EXPLORIT SCIENCE CENTER’S FREE PUBLIC TALKS ON SCIENCE ISSUES OF THE DAY FOR MORE INFORMATION: (530) 756-0191 OR WWW.EXPLORIT.ORG Fundraisers: Department-wide Fundraisers: Science Matters: This request for any voluntary donations, no matter how small, was first introduced at the three orientation/registration events hled in late August for the 09-10 academic year. It will also be distributed in all science classes during the first few weeks of school with a required parent signature (to ensure that it made its way home and back to school). The money collected is already being used to help pay for dissection materials, safety equipment, maintenance of microscopes, and possibly enriched curriculum events for all science students. We have been overwhelmed by the community's support. We'll endeavor to match that support with fantastic science teaching! Thank you so much for your generosity. School-wide Fundraisers: Boxtops for Education: These little nuggets are worth money to our school. Collect them from everday food packages such as granola, biscuits, cereal boxes, Ziploc baggies, etc. Bring them in to help pay for fun stuff like Day on the Green and lunch rallies.
