Message from the Principal
As Golden View’s principal, I am committed to ensuring that this will be a successful year for every student. 2009-2010 promises to be an enjoyable and learning filled year as we build on our reputation for providing exemplary educational opportunities for all of our kindergarten through fifth grade students.
Golden View School is an open plan school, both in structure and philosophy. It was designed to support the instructional program through large and small open spaces. This structure promotes the easy sharing of teaching strategies, ideas, materials, and students. Each year many students attend our school through open enrollment and interdistrict transfers to take advantage of our unique educational programs and setting.
Golden View has an extraordinary staff of fully credentialed classroom teachers, one speech/language specialist, one resource specialist, a principal, a part time psychologist, and 42 classified support personnel. We are dedicated to providing a safe and engaging learning environment that promotes thinking and learning for our 530 students. For the third consecutive time, Golden View School was selected as a California Distinguished School! We have an API score of 829. This score indicates that Golden View is one of the best elementary schools in California. We encourage students to build upon this tradition of excellence to achieve their individual goals.
A key strength of our school is the positive climate that has been established through the development of our "Golden Rules" school wide behavior support system. We are further committed to extending and applying classroom learning to other settings. This commitment is exemplified through our Student Environmental Learning Facility (S.E.L.F.) and our Kid's Club. The S.E.L.F. is a two acre "farm" that the students and teachers utilize extensively to integrate learning across all curricular areas. Kid's Club is a before and after school child care program that supports the school curriculum and is available to all Golden View students.
We look forward to working with students and parents this year and hope this website, as it is developed this year, becomes a useful resource for you and the community. The school office will open on Monday, August 24, 2009. The first day of school for students will be on Wednesday, September 9, 2009.
