Homework

Homework is given nightly, Monday through Thursday, as an extension of what
was taught in class that day. It will come home in your child's purple
homework folder. All homework is to be completed and returned the next day
unless indicated on their green homework chart.
Please check the green chart (WAC, Weekly Assignment Chart) in your child's
purple homework folder for their daily homework assignments. If your child
is missing an assignment, I do my best to indicate it on there. Please
initial this chart daily.
Because homework is an extension of what was learned in class, they should
be able to do most of it with very little parent help. If your child is
having a hard time with a homework assignment, please let me know through a
note or email. This will let me know that I need to do some reteaching with
your child.
Along with the homework that is assigned each night, I ask that students
read out loud with someone for at least 20 minutes and practice their
multiplication tables at least
four nights a week. Reading and multipication will only improve with
repeated practice. Students should be reading books at their "IRL,"
Independent Reading Level. I know we all have busy lives, but the car is a
great place to practice those multiplication tables! Start out with the 0,
1, and 2's. Once those have been mastered, move on to the threes and fours.
Students should take at least 2 AR tests a week between Wednesday and the
following Tuesday. More AR tests are required if they want to make their 6 week
goals to be included in our special AR events.

Every Friday there is a Vocabulary and Spelling Test.

These things should be reviewed at home in preparation for the tests.
