Hello Families of Grapeland Elementary School!
It is hard to believe that we are entering the homestretch of the 2015-16 school year. Our staff continues to deliver the best in instruction, providing enriching and engaging lessons day after day. District-wide the teachers recently made a recommendation for the new ELA curriculum to be implemented in the fall. We are excited to see what the new curriculum brings!
Grapeland leadership has begun the planning of the new school year with exciting learning experiences that will include STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, ART, and Math). And with the help of our school community fundraising efforts at the Walk-a-Thon on April 1st, we will be continuing with the many engaging learning opportunities we have always offered along with this new focus. Thank you for supporting our Spring fundraiser! The fundraiser will allow us to continue with fun AR incentives, interactive fieldtrips at each grade level, music class, and more hands-on experiences to meet our LCAP goals.
Grapeland’s school community steps up once again to provide support for our students and our A+ staff! Whether time or monetary resources, our families continue to embrace our school mission to make Grapeland every child’s favorite place to be! PTA celebrated reaching 100% of our parents as members for the sixth consecutive year. Our parent volunteers coordinated two successful philanthropic events that raised funds and awareness for worthy causes.
Many thanks go out to our PTA for the continued support of our students through reading, music, choir, technology, assemblies and before/after school programs. We had 22 Reflections entries showcasing the love of visual and performing arts, eight of which reached district council. One fifth grade entry was invited to compete at the state level—outstanding! Our oratory competition, spelling bee, B.O.B. and B.O.B Jr. were all very successful events for our students spread throughout the year and offered something for everyone.
Our spring performing arts production of The Best of Broadway was a huge hit, showcasing the vocal talent that walks these halls! It feels great to continue the traditions that have made Grapeland a special place, and we are excited to look forward to new adventures as a school community. Together, we continue to power up to be the best we can be and accept any new challenge that come our way!
