NewsFlash

It was wonderful to see so many of you at the Children’s Art Auction last Thursday night.  Thank you so much, again, to Jill Jones and to Julie Nagel for their many, many hours of work on our classroom’s project. Unfortunately, the tray was accidently broken.  I believe the Auction Committee has agreed to pay for a replacement.  Maybe this new tray will be even more spectacular than the last!

Our class had three prize winners at the auction: Ryan won the digital camera, Colleen won the Wii Resort and Tommy won the grand prize of tickets to Disney Land.  Wow, what a lucky class!

Valentines may be brought in beginning this Tuesday.  Please do not write the recipient's name on the card. Only the "giver's" name is necessary.  We will be opening valentines in class on Friday afternoon.  Thank you for all the extra shoe boxes - we did use quite a few of them.  The Valentine boxes are all very unique and beautiful.  I think the children (third and first) had fun decorating and getting sticky!  You'll see the box when it comes home on Friday full of cards.

The Read-a-Thon reading logs are due tomorrow.  I will be turning them into Mrs. Hissen at the end of the day so please get those logs in.   SIX HOURS  =  SIX FLAGS!!!

Please practice counting backwards.  This will help your child greatly with subtraction.  Also review the concept of which numbers are even and which numbers are odd.

The Student Council will be selling candy-grams at lunchtime beginning Friday this week.  Buy early – these will sell out! Each candy-gram is $1 and will be delivered to the recipient on Friday, 2/12.  Proceeds will be given to the Red Cross to benefit Haiti.

This Friday, 2/12, is Spirit Day sponsored by our Student Council.  Show your spirit by wearing pink or red!

Reminder:  No school on Monday, 2/15.
