Dear Students and Parents,
Here's what's happening this week in room 402:

Six Flags Read a Thon: Reading Logs are due on Monday, don't forget to put them in your backpack, late logs won't be accepted.
Valentine's Cards: We will be celebrating Valentine's Day on Friday, February 12th. Please bring enough valentine's for 20 students. Please remember to decorate a box or bag to put your valentine's in and bring into the classroom by Friday, February 12th.
Mystery Readers: Please make sure to check out the Mystery Reader page and email me to be one of our mystery reader's if you haven't already.
Endangered Animals project: We will be going into the computer lab 3 times this week to continue our great work on our powerpoints. The kids continue to do a great job.  I will be uploading the powerpoints to teacher web when they are all finished.**Check out the Projects & Assignments documents page - I uploaded the requirements for the animal report/power point for you to download if needed. This is the same paperwork your child has.
Candy Grams: Student Council will be selling candy grams to benefit Haiti on Friday, February 5th until Friday, February 12th. Candy grams are $1.00 and will be sold in the MPR.

Spelling: This week we will be moving onto Unit 21. The words will be posted on the spelling page on Monday.

Math: This week we will be continuing with 1 digit by 2 digit division. Please continue to have your kids practice their math facts at home. **Good math fact online practice: Math Fact Cafe. Go to the Links page on teacher web and find Math, click on the math link and have your student practice those math facts!

Writing/Language Arts: This week are theme is Poetry to go along with the upcoming Valentine's Day, we will be focusing on writing Cinquain poems. 
Grammar: - This week we will be finishing up: Prefixes and suffixes.

Cursive:  We are currently fininshing up our red cursive books. The students are going through their cursive books finishing up unfished pages and correcting their formation of the letters. Once they feel they have done their best they will turn their books in for me to look over. Once their book receives a sticker the student will receive another packet to practice with. Once the packet is finished, I will review them. If their packet has earned a sticker then the student has earned their cursive license!

Vocabulary: We will be continuing our study of unit 3 in our vocabulary books.
 
Reading: We will be focusing on reading comprehension, fluency and reading with exspression.

Science:
This week we will be finishing up Chapter 8 - Light. We will be having a quiz on Chapter 8 on Friday.
