Dear Students and Families,

The start of the 2017/2018 school year is quickly approaching and the staff here at Heritage is excited! We are looking forward to a great year! For those of you that are returning this year, "Welcome Back!" For those that will be new to the Heritage family, "Welcome!" Our hope is that you have had a restful and relaxing summer break that has given you a new excitement for the upcoming school year. The first day of school is Monday, August 7th and it is a minimum day, which begins at 8:00am and dismisses at 1:00pm.

Ongoing communication is essential. Parents, please ensure that all contact information is updated and accurate on the Aeries Parent Portal. And, if any contact information changes, please update as necessary. On the Parent Portal, I would encourage you to sign up to receive weekly email updates on your child's grades. If you need assistance in setting this up, please don't hesitate to contact the school. This feature is definitely one of which you should take advantage. I would also encourage you to explore our website, as there are numerous resources and links that you will find helpful as your child navigates middle school. Once you have found out your child's schedule, I'd also encourage you to explore his or her teacher's websites. There, too, you will find many resources and tools that will help your child succeed.

As the new Principal of Heritage Intermediate School, I am very excited for this school year. I am excited to see students learn, succeed, and prepare for life.

New Website Coming Soon

Around December, our district website, school website, and teacher websites will be changing and updating. Keep an eye out for more information. We will update as often as possible, so as to make it a smooth transition and continue open lines of communication.

6th Grade Camp Informational Presentation

On 8/16/17, parents of 6th grade students were invited to attend a camp information night prior to the start of back to school night. This link will take you to that presentation. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact your child's teacher or the school office.


The Heritage PTSA just sponsored their second school-wide collection for Box Tops. Thank you to everyone who collected and submitted box tops this time around. Each box top turned in earns HIS ten cents and 100% of the earnings go back to our students! With your help, we recently raised $152.00. Congratulations to Mr. Margrave's Homeroom for bringing in the most box tops!!
The next due date for the pull tabs will be March 31st. Please keep collecting and turning them in to your Homeroom collection box! All pull tabs will be counted and donated to The Ronald McDonald House.


The Etiwanda School District PLUS Before and After School Child Care program will provide quality care in a safe and nurturing environment for school-aged children. The staff will provide enrichment activities in art, music, literature, and physical education. Time will be allocated to allow students sufficient time to work on their homework assignments. Child Care staff will be available to assist students and will regularly communicate with teachers. Snacks will be provided daily. Parents are always welcome to visit Child Care centers. The program will operate under the authority of the Etiwanda School District. Attention Incoming 7th Grade Parents! Your child's Tdap immunization record must be submitted to our school office prior to receiving textbooks and being scheduled for 7th grade classes. Please schedule an appointment TODAY! If you are in need of information about local immunization clinics, you may contact the San Bernardino Public Health Department at 1-800-722-4794. Thank you for your immediate response in obtaining this required immunization for your child.

Does Your Child Have Health Insurance?
Statistics show that healthy children attend school on a more consistent basis. Heritage Intermediate is participating in a Medi-Cal program that links students and families with health care options. If you are in need of health insurance for your child/ren, please contact our school Health Office at 909-357-1345. Your child may be eligible for FREE or LOW COST health care which includes medical, dental, and vision coverage. You can also contact Healthy Families directly at 1-800-880-5305 or

Breakfast Served Daily

Students are invited to enjoy breakfast in our MPR from 7:30-7:55am every morning. The cost is $1.50 - free/reduced breakfast/lunch prices apply.
All breakfast entries are served with fruit, juice and milk.
Cereal and string cheese can always be substituted for the daily entrée.

(1) 6th Grade Welcome Rally during 7th period, (2) Kona Ice for $3 during lunches, (3) Final turn-in day for the fundraiser, & (4) Permission slips & Donations due for the 6th grade field trip to the Lewis Family Playhouse.


Non-Student Attendance Day. Students, enjoy your 3-day weekend!!


Make-up Picture day. This day is set aside for new students/staff, students/staff who were absent on the original picture day, and/or students who purchased a picture packet and want to do re-takes (you must bring your packet)


2 happenings today: (1) Minimum Day - 1:00 Dismissal & (2) The District-wide Disaster Drill will take place today.


Dr. Shawn Judson, Superintendent of the Etiwanda School District, will be hosting a community forum in the HIS MPR to share proposed Election Maps for the Board of Trustees beginning at 6:00pm


Progress Reports will be sent home with students.
