* New Book Report, that you should already be reading for, is available under 'documents.' Read it! Book Jacket Book Report - due Jan. 20 - It's a book jacket (pretty easy!) and a "Book Talk" about your book! (Cake!) Read, we'll go over samples and details in class! (I moved the Egypt proj. date down a bit!) TUESDAY 12/15/09: * Thank you students (& parents!) for a wonderful "Event" today! It was so yummy; I am still so full and cannot believe how much fantastic grub we had! You were all so awesome about moving up the date due to Thursday's Choral concert. Back to business tomorrow! MONDAY 12/14/09: * Finish "More Than a Pinch" pg. 748 Literature Book. Complete Main Point Chart and Venn Diagram. * Find a book of your choice for the next book report - to be assigned in Jan. * Class "Event" tomorrow! Remember your Gift exchange item & food item! Yummy! THURSDAY 12/10/09: * "Things I Need" Outlining Work WEDNESDAY 12/9/09: * Study Vocabulary Flashcards! Test Friday! TUESDAY 12/8/09: * Work on Newspaper Book Report - Due TOMORROW! MONDAY 12/7/09: * Complete Q's 1 - 6 for "Shakespeare's London" pg. 735 in Lit Book. * Work on Newspaper Book Report - Due December 9th! Sample images are available under 'Documents.' WEDNESDAY 12/2/09: * Finish Assertion / Detail work on "A World of Difference" TUESDAY 12/1/09: * Work on Newspaper Book Report - Due December 9th! Sample images are available under 'Documents.' MONDAY 11/30/09: * Complete the packet (yes, the entire packet) on Context Clues. Read all the directions carefully and complete it all! * Read for Newspaper Book Report - Due Dec. 9th! TUESDAY 11/24/09: * Write (or type) the Final Draft of your 5 paragraph expository essay. Be sure to have a clear thesis statement. Use the 'Thanksgiving' essay as your model. Due Wednesday / tomorrow. MONDAY 11/23/09: * Complete the assertion / citation chart started & explained in class. It goes with the article on pg. 687 "Chinese Immigrants Remember Detention on Angel Island" in our Lit. book. * Write (or type) the Final Draft of your 5 paragraph expository essay. Be sure to have a clear thesis statement. Use the 'Thanksgiving' essay as your model. Due Wednesday. (Per. 3/6 received their essays back already and can get started!) WEDNESDAY 11/18/09: * Complete the "Thanksgiving" Diagraming Questions. We went over the essay and discussed how to do the questions in class. TUESDAY 11/17/09: * Read, read, read! (for your book report - or read about the 'other' empires in Social Studies) MONDAY 11/16/09: * Finish the Problem / Solution chart for the article "Daring to Dream" read in class. (5 problems / solutions + conclusion Q.) * Read for Book Report
THURSDAY 11/12/09: * Find a book for the Newspaper Book Report; directions were discussed in class. Paper will be available (if requested) as of Monday. Some samples will be posted soon on web site. Start reading! WEDNESDAY 11/11/09: * NO SCHOOL! TUESDAY 11/10/09: * Find a book for the Newspaper Book Report: * Newspaper Book Report - Due December 9th - directions will be gone over in class on Thursday and samples will be shared and posted on web site after that. Paper will be available in class next week.

THURSDAY 11/5/09: * Color Poem; Final Draft, along with the Rough Draft & Observation Chart = DUE TOMORROW! (Many turned Final draft in during class, don't forget the other items!) WEDNESDAY 11/4/09: * Color Poem; bring Final Draft to class to work on decorating - Final Draft, along with the Rough Draft & Observation Chart = Due Friday! Thursday 10/29/09: * Color Poem Rough draft - explained in class, directions given, samples shared (example will be posted on site if I can get home in time to do so!)

* "It Figures" Provide examples of the 4 styles of Figurative Language, one style of your chooseing for each image. We did some samples in class. Complete both sides. If you are confused, please still attempt the assignment to the best of your ability!
