Today you did a critical reading on an article titled "Better Colleges Failing to Lure Talented Poor". The purpose for reading was: Read to understand reasons why you should apply to "selective" colleges.

Monday March 4
Today we read an article on Oscar Pistorius, aka "Blade Runner". You were given a guilty or innocent stance (reading for purpose). We discussed a bit, and then had tutorial.
HW: For Weds, come with an outline that supports your streamlined claim about why he is guilty or innocent.
For Thursday, bring TRF and be prepared for Socratic Seminar using your "Blade Runner" evidence and thoughts.

Today we worked on our AVID application essays and had a good tutorial.

Today we did some writing regarding our priorities- and we categorized ourselves in specific groups depending on where our priorities fell. We did a 4-corners activity based on the warm-up. Then, we went to the computer lab and used the act search engine to narrow down colleges via priorities.

Priority Card Activity- mounted on paper with description and numbering, and have a parent do the same. Mount your parent's on the back and type up the summary of the discussion you had regarding your parent's priorities and yours.

Today we had Greg, our guest speaker bless us with his presence and gift of passion for life. You were great audience members and questioners (minus those of you looking at the clock).
HW due Monday: Permission slip completely filled out, TRF, and deal with any of the issues I mentioned on your grade slip.

Today we reunited in our circle and began class with a warm up, analyzed and discussed the clip "The Paper Airplane Experiment" and discussed what AVID 3 is about and your role as an AVID student.
