One of 12 children, I grew up in the San Gabriel Valley, attending St.
Anthony's Catholic Elementary School and Sacred Heart of Mary High School.
I received my BA in English Literature from UCLA and my Multiple
Subject and Single Subject English/Language Arts Credentials through Chapman
University. I have taught 5th Grade and 8th Grade Language Arts. This is
my seventh year teaching at Hermosa Valley School. My prior career was with
a law firm as a Paralegal/Office Manager. I then spent several years at
home when my children were small, volunteering with the schools and its
various organizations - HBEF, PTO, Young At Art, etc.
My hobbies include tennis, art, reading, swimming, skiing, going to
movies and traveling.
I am married with three children - all girls - Julia who is a 12th
grader at Mira Costa High School; Amanda, who is in her second year at Amherst
College in Massachusetts; and Stephanie, who just graduated from UC Santa Cruz
and is starting her first year of law school at University of Chicago Law
School.
Our family includes two cats, Tiger and Furball, and a dog, Sandy.
"My mission for this class is that we all learn to practice Respect in every
form - Respect of ourselves, of each other, and respect of the environment.
If we can embrace the concept of Respect, and it becomes second nature to us,
we will have a wonderful, thriving, learning environment. The journey through
8th grade will be forever etched in our minds and hearts as the year we became
successful, independent, inquisitive, energetic and RESPECTFUL young adults.
The acquisition of a 'respectful mantra' in our lives will stay with us for the
rest of our lives."
