Your "Dear Summer Vacation" email letter is due in final form on Monday,
September 8th. You had time to peer edit today in class and find ways to
modify your letter. Make all of the changes, read it over to catch errors,
and then print it out for Monday.

Reminder: Make sure that the date is correct and make sure that your first
and last name appear at the heading (subject line) or closing.

DON'T FORGET TO DOWNLOAD YOUR SEPTEMBER READING LOG. WRITE DOWN THE BOOK AND
NUMBER OF PAGES YOU READ OVER THE WEEKEND. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO KEEP
YOUR READING LOG CURRENT.

We had a great start to the 2008-09 school year. You are great!!!!

1. Begin work on a rough draft of an email letter to Summer Vacation. Remember
that this letter uses the technique of personification. Your letter should be
at least three paragraphs. The first should reminisce about one or two
interesting events this summer. The next paragraph should recount how
you are feeling about entering the new school year and some expectations/goals
you have, and the final paragraph should briefly close the letter with
statements that indicate you will be looking forward to catching up again at
the end of this school year. MAKE SURE THAT YOU SIGN YOUR FULL NAME AT THE
END OF THE LETTER.

2. The final draft will be due on Monday, Sept. 8, on either the form you
have downloaded from this photos/doc site or were given in class. Final drafts
must be word processed/typed or written in blue or black ink. Neatness always
counts!

3. Finally, remember that this assignment must be between 200-250 words. Use
the TOOLS menu to highlight word count to see how many words you have written.
