 Fourth Period and ABSENT people: You didn't get a PINK
READING RECORD with the vocab tracker on the back. You will need to keep track
of your reading on binder paper once you are done with the green reading
record.  You will have to transfer the info when we get back on Monday the
4th. I paged 4th period to come to room 4 after school and only about 1/2 of
the class showed up. 

1.  Read and fill out your reading records, and vocab trackers (green and
pink).  The green one will be collected on the first block day.  The pink one
will be checked for the first week total and initials on the first block day.

2.  NO vocab flash cards due on first block day.

3.  Expect an Effect will be due on the first block day.

4.  Mystery play iMovies will be due the second block day of the new year.


Monday, 12/14/09

1.  Complete #1 on the "Copyright Scavenger Hunt" page here on my teacherweb. 
There will be several questions you have to answer on the "Cyberbee Copyright"
link.  The directions are on my "Copyright Scavenger Hunt" here on Teacherweb.

2. Read and fill out your red reading record and vocab tracker. Get the
reading record totaled up and signed.  It will be collected on block day.

3. Five more vocab. flashcards due on block day (total of 50).

reading record total at the top and have it signed.

4.  Correct lit response essay due on block.  We will submit to Criterion then.

Monday, 11/23/09

1.Response to Lit. Essay: 
   a.) You may choose any short story you have a response to lit outline for.
   b.) Work on typing the essay in a word document. 
   c.) Your essay, on Criterion,  must be five paragraphs and
       between 300 and 600 words.  
   d.) Have it with you on Monday to continue working.

important events, & author's message. Do NOT write up the response to lit
outline for this.

6.  If you didn't finish the response to lit. outline for "A Long Way Down" in
class, then it is homework.  You have to write out the 1st and 5th paragraph.
 Then you write out the topic sentence for the middle paragraphs and do
"bullet notes" for the evidence. It's an outline.  We'll do a homework check
on it tomorrow.

1.  Bring the answers to the study questions for "Masque of the Red Death" on
Monday. 

Those of you who were absent for "...Red Death" there is an audio link
to download next to the original story at the top of this page.  Download the
"HQ" version. After reading and listening to the original, go to the "Shmoop
Summary" and read that.  Then read the "Schmoop Plot Analysis"  After that
answer the "Schmoop Study Question" 1,2,3 on a right sided page in your notebook.

2.  "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" Plot Diagram and How to Write a Movie Review
are due on block day.  There is a link above for the movie in four parts on
youtube if you need to watch it again. 

Those of you who were absent for this film, need to watch this on youtube.
First, print out this Plot
Diagram and fill it out as you watch "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow."  This
was originally written as a short story by Washington Irving, who is a classic
American author. This video, produce by Disney, is very true to the original
story, especially the way Ichabod Crane looks!  Enjoy!

"Class Links" page to read the biography about Poe on 'mysterynet'.  Do a
google search for more facts about Poe.  Be sure you use a qualified site.  A
museum site, a city (Baltimore) site, or sites that end with edu or org are
usually qualified.  Write down the url and the name of the page for the
sources you find.  Write your facts on a right sided page in your notebook. 
Due Monday.

   are not making additional errors.

that Criterion will probably mark as incorrect.  That's o.k.  I don't count
those as an errors.  If you don't make the Criterion corrections, you can't
get anything more than a C grade.  This will be due next Friday, October 19th.

Write these reading responses on page two of your language arts notebook (it is a right                 sided page... if you need another page continue on page 4, which will also be a right sided                 page).
