About The Teacher

I live in Santa Cruz with my husband. My 24 year old son lives about a mile
away and comes over for dinner several nights a week, and I enjoy visiting
with him.

I love to read and often have three or more books I'm reading at one time. I
like to garden, cook, and take care of my Koi pond, which includes feeding my
fish. They will eat right out of my hand and even munch on my fingertips!

Recently my husband and I discovered the joys of traveling by owning
timeshares. We've been to Puerto Vallarta, Maui, and Victoria in the past
year, and have trips planned to Cabo San Lucas, and Maui for this school year.
We are looking at going to New Zealand and Australia next summer! Exciting!!

I've learned more than I ever thought I would about computers, and
I've even learned a little html. My limited expertise comes from joining
a program offered to our district through Oracle called "think.com."
It is a secure program for teachers and students to create web pages
for both personal and academic interests. It also has an e-mail
system and something they call "stickies" for sending messages.

This is my third year as a participant in the district's EETT program, which
provides each student in my English classes with a laptop computer for
"Enhancing Education Through Technology" (EETT). We will be writing and
researching through the year, and I will have my room open at lunch for
students who do not have access to the internet at home.

Mission For The Class

My mission for my students is for them to be enthusiastic readers and
writers. I want my students to become independent learners, having a number
of strategies for their learning, in any field. I want to encourage
students to think deep, learn beyond the classroom, and keep an open
mind. I want my students to challenge themselves and enjoy doing it!
