FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
What can I do to help my child get better grades? Research shows the more your child reads the better they will do in school. Reading with your child is a great way to connect with him or her too! What other ways can I help my child do better in school? Help your child organize themselves. Have a designated homework area and time. Check your child's homework and help them to understand their mistakes. Ask your child about their day at dinner time. Have them tell you at least two things they learned or practiced that day. Check out the links for fun practice. Do you need help in the classroom or with projects? Yes, I need help in many different ways. Please stop by and talk to me about your interest or send me an email. Here are a few ways you could help: art docent, correcting papers, running copies, organizing field trips, book orders, helping with small groups of children, volunteering to drive or chapperone on a field trip, etc. An Art docent is a person who comes to the classroom and shares artwork with the students. They put together an art project for the students to do modeling after the art that was shared. Parents in the past who have been an art docent loved it! Can my child celebrate their birthday in class? Yes, I can save the last ten minutes of the day for your child to celebrate. I like to suggest that your child give a gift of a book to our classroom instead of a sugary treat. If your child gives a book, please have them include a picture of themselves inside the front cover of the book along with their name. What is the best way to contact Mrs. Larson or Ms. Arnoldy? Email, note, or talk with us at the end of the school day. If my child is absent how do I get their make-up work? In Kindergarten, children usually do not get make-up work. What day does my child turn in their homework? Homework folders and completed work are always due each Wednesday. Look at the agenda with your child nightly. Read and discuss what your child wrote in their agenda for the day. Remember agendas must be in your child's backpack each day! If this doesn't help with your question, please schedule a meeting with your child's teacher. |
