Hi, my name is Kathy Rebhan, and I am so excited to be your child's first grade teacher. First
grade is an exciting and important year of growth, and I look forward to working together to
make this year a memorable experience for your child. This will be my seventh year of teaching at
Joseph Sims and my fourth year of teaching first grade. I enjoy teaching all subjects but
particularly look forward to teaching drama and incorporating the arts in the classroom.
Last year, the B track first grade classes hatched steelhead trout from eggs in the classroom. We
successfully released our fry back into the American River during the spring. It was an amazing
hands-on learning experience that we hope to repeat this year.
I have two children of my own at home. My daughter, Jennifer, is 17 years old, and my son,
Kevin, is 14 years old. I also have 2 dogs, a cat, and a fish. I love to read, play board games, watch
basketball, and do all kinds of arts and craft projects in my free time.
Students will learn to work together, demonstrate civic values in the classroom, and become problem
solvers. All students will become confident readers and writers and develop strong number sense.
