_______________________ Daily assignments are posted on our classroom calendar and students are required to write these assignments in to their agenda. Class assignments that are not completed in class will become homework. • Class assignments are due the next morning at 8:00 a.m. • Late work is not accepted. • If a student is absent, they have 2 days to turn in missed assignments. Most assignment with a grade lower than a C- may be completed again as a "re- do" and may receive an updated grade to a C-. "Re-do" assignments are due on Monday following the assignment's original date. Weekly DOL and GEO tests are not available as a "Re-Do" assignment. MATH Assignments (H) PAGES AND SUPPORT PAGES MAY BE FOUND ONLINE AT: http://www.onlineintervention.com/OI/mktngPage.jsp (To open the link, copy and paste the link then click on the word MATH in the middle of the page. Next, click on HOMEWORK HELP then select GRADE 6. Lastly, click on WORKSHEETS. Here you will find each math chapter followed by the lesson number.) ____________________________________________________________________________ It is required that you read at least 30 minutes each evening. Keep track of your reading by posting your progress in your agenda and having a parent verify the reading progress weekly. Students are to ask a parent for their signature in the agenda every Wednesday evening. ____________________________________________________________________________ Homework Policy: We do our best to get students to see school as their “job”. Thus, they are expected to work hard when they are here. We won’t assign “homework” just for the sake of them to have something to do at home. Rather, we assign work in class each day. Most likely, students will have a little bit of several assignments to finish up at home. Our expectation is that your child will complete their work each day (either at school or home) and then you will spot-check that all assignments are completed and located in their proper place in the binder. If you are wondering what the assignments are- simply look on the calendar and note that all assignments are written on the day they are due- a check is next to completed work and the assignments are ALWAYS in their binder directly behind the tab with that subject label. We will then go over the work in class, and students may ask questions during this time. Please note that during class time, there are many opportunities for clarification and further explanation. We are also available during recess & lunch nearly everyday. Therefore, your child should not need you to instruct him/her at home. THE SINGLE BEST WAY FOR YOU TO HELP YOUR CHILD THIS YEAR IS TO DIRECT THEM TO THE TEACHERS WHEN THEY DON’T UNDERSTAND SOMETHING. If they come home and say they don’t know how to do something…..please- ask them if they asked their teacher for clarification earlier that day. We must help students to help themselves prior to beginning jr. high. Teachers are always the best resource for the assignments that they give. After all- if you don’t understand something your boss needs done- chances are someone at your house doesn’t really know either. Students will have ongoing projects at all times. These are assignments that students should be working on at home and in the classroom. Be sure to keep an eye on your child’s project section and their agenda for current assignments. Any project that is late goes down one letter grade for each day it is late. If a student is absent on the day a project is due, the project must be turned in the morning of the first day the student returns to school. Even better,if a parent, sibling, or friend can deliver the project to school the day it is due, we will greatly appreciate it. The teacher or parent can request conferences on a personal basis. Conferences will not be scheduled to begin after 3:30 P.M.
