How can I volunteer in the classroom?

There are many ways that we can use your help this year! Please sign up for
your favorites at Back to School Night OR email me with your interests.

If you’d like to volunteer in the classroom:
- Learning Centers: many parents can help! We only need one parent daily
9:15-10:00, to assist with centers.
- Fluency: Preferably one parent to come in once a week for 1 hr, to record
fluency rates of whole class.
- Spelling: Preferably one parent to come in Thursdays to administer spelling
tests and prep spelling homework.
- Homework: one parent daily (anytime) to prep and stuff folders.
- Writing: many parents can help! We only need one parent, once a week 10:30
- 11:15, to assist with small groups
- Substitutes: parents available to fill in at last minute

Other opportunites:
- Room Mom
- Arts Attack
- Photographer
- Classroom Beautification
- Prep at home
- Level books for our classroom library

What will my child recieve for homework?

There are two different folders that will be coming home with your scholars.
Monday – Wednesday they will be taking home a RED folder, which needs to
return with them the following day. In that folder you should find a math
worksheet, a reading log, and a spelling journal. Usually for math, they will
need your assistance completing a HomeLink, based on what they’ve done in
class that day. Next, I expect your child to read every single night for at
least 20 minutes, and record the book title, genre, time, and pages in the
log. And finally, there will be a nightly spelling assignment for your
scholar to record in their journal. Good news, this year there will be no PE
Log requirement!

The YELLOW folder goes home on Thursday with their homeschool assignment and
any completed work that is to remain at home. Please make sure this folder is
returned on Monday.
