Directions: Answer the following questions after reading and analyzing the primary source handout. Your responses must be in complete sentences, written in pen, using blue or black ink, or type written. Your responses should answer all parts of the question.
1. Discuss the issue regarding internal versus external taxes. Cite examples of each. Which of the two did the colonies willingly pay. Why?
2. What is Franklin's central complaint revealed in his testimony?
3. Discuss the issue of representation. What is Franklin's argument regarding representation?
4. What is the larger colonial context in which we should place Henry's incendiary speech? What was happening up north?
5. Analyze both readings regarding the conflicting views of the outbreak. Identify 2-4 facts represented in each. What are the central differences you note after reading each?
