Per. 5 English 8 GATE HOMEWORK

HOMEWORK for English 8 GATE (Period 5)-- students should expect 
20-30 minutes of homework Monday-Thursday and occasionally on 
weekends; be sure to be READING your independent reading book (you need 
to read at least 2,000 pages each semester).

This week's homework...
MONDAY, DECEMBER 14th: Finish your Americana Monologue tonight; bring
2 typed copies of your Americana Monologue to class Wed. 12/16 (be ready 
to present in front of the class Wed.)

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 15th: Revise your Americana Monologue tonight; bring
2 typed copies of your Americana Monologue to class Wed. 12/16 (be ready 
to present in front of the class Wed.)

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 16th: Read! Make sure your English Notebook is complete, pages
numbered, and in ordered (see list on this website)-- English Notebooks will be
collected on Fri. 12/18

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 17th: Read! Make sure your English Notebook is complete, pages
numbered, and in ordered (see list on this website)-- English Notebooks will be
collected on Fri. 12/18

* Auditions for Americana speeches will be on Mon. 12/14/09 at lunch (due to the large
number of auditions). 

* The Americana Performances will be Thur. Feb. 4th and Fri. Feb. 5th. 
(There is a mandatory rehearsal Sat. 1/30 all day.) With Americana, it is important 
to get involved, to challenge yourself, and to have fun while learning! You will earn
a grade for English & for History with the Americana Performance.

* Americana Monologues will be presented on Wed. 12/16 and Thur. 12/17 in Eng.8G 
classes. (The rough draft is due Tue. 12/15; bring 2 copies of the final draft monologue.)

* English Notebooks will be collected and graded on Friday, December 18th. Make sure 
everything is complete and organized, and be sure to have your independent reading
recorded in your Reading Log (get your parent/guardian signatures).

* Check your grades-- click on "GRADES", type in your last name and under "Password" 
type in your Student ID#

* The Final Draft of the Americana Research Paper was due Thur. 12/10/09. You needed to 
turn in your Notes Packet, Outline, Thesis Statement, and Rough Draft of this day as well 
for credit. (The Research Paper will count for both an English and a History grade.)
